Course Aims

This course is designed for applicants who have completed a higher level qualification in Counselling and have professional body accreditation or be working towards this with at least 450 hours and wish to extend their knowledge of working using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Course Content

Students will be introduced to the background, theory and research of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The main aspects of the course will deal with
• Working safely using the CBT framework
• Work with CBT theory and skills in the therapeutic process
• Work reflectively as a CBT therapist
• Work with diversity and difference
• Work with Self Awareness in the CBT Process

Students will be required to carry out client work of at least 30 hours of counselling with at least 3 different clients applying the theory of CBT to the counselling process, placement will be in house at Beacon Counselling Trust
