Who are The Beacon Counselling Trust?

The Beacon Counselling trust delivers the FREE Gambling Counselling service in the North West of England. We have a central base in Liverpool and satellite offices in other areas of the North West.

Here at Beacon we recognize that when dealing with Addiction particularly gambling, for a more positive and enduring outcome we must look at the problem holistically. Alongside providing therapy to treat the symptom (gambling) we can and do provide therapy to treat the route or underlying cause of the symptom in order to ensure a more effective and longer term care plan and to support recovery

We provide specialist counselling for problem gamblers and their families on behalf of GamCare.

Who can come for GamCare Gambling Counselling?

Anyone who is affected by the impact of gambling can access this service not just problem gamblers themselves for example family members of problem gamblers.

Where is the counselling held?

Beacon Counselling head office and Therapy centre is in Liverpool with satellite locations due to be commissioned in Wales and the North West shortly.

What is GamCare counselling at Beacon like?

When you first contact us, we will ask you for some basic information (name, address, date of birth, what days / times you would be able to come for counselling).  All enquiries are treated in strict confidence and contact information is stored in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998.  One of our specially trained Gambling counsellors will contact you, usually within 2 days, to arrange the first appointment.

Counselling sessions  are one to one.  You will always see the same person unless either you or the counsellor wishes to change.  During the first session there is some paperwork to complete, which is to help the counsellor build a thorough picture of your situation and to enable the two of you to plan your therapy.  Counselling is tailored to the client, so sessions may be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, they usually start out weekly but can become more stretched out as therapy progresses – these details are all to be agreed between you and your counsellor.

In addition to face to face counselling, we can also offer you telephone counselling or Skype counselling, or a combination of either.
