Paul’s Place service users took part in a fantastic final Trek Therapy 2022 programme, family orientated, wellbeing walk event recently, which caps off a full programme of wellbeing walks activities this year.

We had an amazing turnout with our participants having a great time exploring Calderstones Park, a stunning 94-acre family park located in South Liverpool. Calderstones features neolithic stones that give the park its name, an area of woodland, a lake, the awesome ‘Allerton Oak’ (a one-thousand-year-old oak tree), and the beautiful Japanese and old English gardens as well as a monument to Jet of Lada, a German Shepherd dog, who assisted in the rescue of 150 people trapped under buildings during the Liverpool blitz of World War 2. Jet served with the Civil Defence Services of London. He was awarded both the Dickin Medal (the animal equivalent of the Victoria Cross) and the RSPCA’s Medallion of Valor for his rescue efforts. The activity included a visit the fantastic facilities in The Mansion House, book shop and cafe operated by wonderful The Reader Project.

Our fun filled day finished with a social element with our group enjoying mulled fruit juice, chocolates, and ginger cookies, which kept everyone happy.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Trek Therapy programme team from everyone at Paul’s Place and Beacon Counselling Trust for some great activities this last year. We would especially like to thank the Trek Therapy volunteers Kelli Whiteside and Vicky Whiteside for giving their time and looking after and supporting our group so well during the event.

We look forward to a new programme of Trek Therapy activities in 2023.
