At Paul’s Place and Beacon Counselling Trust we are blessed with staff and service users who go on to support the services that we provide.

One such colleague is Jon from Beacon’s Education and Intervention Team. Following on from running the Liverpool International Half Marathon in 2024 with colleague and Beacon/Paul’s Place Therapist Ann-Marie (raising funds for Paul’s Place), Jon decided that he wanted to take on a challenge across the whole of 2025.

Jon will be taking part in an amazing 13 major running events across the year including the Chester treble of 10k, half and full marathon and notable events such as the famous Great North Run and the Donegal Half Marathon.

He will be running 3 full marathons, 9 half marathons and a 10k! Jon will be raising funds for our Paul’s Place Suicide Bereavement Programme which offers free counselling and holistic group support to over 16’s bereaved by suicide in the Merseyside Area.

Here’s a list of Jon’s incredible schedule:

  • – Heaton Park half marathon – January 12th
  • – Media City half marathon – February 16th
  • – Chester 10K (part of the Chester triple) – March 9th
  • – Liverpool half marathon – March 23rd
  • – Manchester Marathon – April 27th
  • – Chester half marathon – May 18th
  • – Donegal half marathon – August 24th

Please see quote below from Jon:

“Fundraising last year for the Liverpool Half Marathon and the Edinburgh really gave me the bug to go one step further for this year’s challenge. I’m really looking forward to some of the new races I’ll be taking on this year and I really appreciate the support that’s been shown so far. Having lost two close friends to suicide I know how hard it is, knowing Paul’s Place is there for those bereaved by suicide is a comforting feeling and I’m looking forward to raising some awareness of the amazing work they do and hopefully raising some funds along the way.”
