Our Bet You Can Help (BYCH) trainers visited the Care Quality Commission (CQC) headquarters in Stratford to deliver our Level 2 award BYCH with staff.
The CQC have been commissioned to deliver a new framework around safe and quality treatment and support within the National Gambling Support Network and it was a very valuable day for both organisations.
The CQC, which regulates and inspects healthcare services in England, is being tasked with exploring the development of an inspection regime for gambling treatment and support services.
Members of the CQC gambling harms project team have been very keen to upskill in their own learning around gambling harms as a public health issue, to update and inform their own policy and procedures within the organisation.
The training was delivered by Education and Intervention Programme Manager Ian Whiteside and Nicola Jaques, who supports BCT’s family work.
As part of the day’s learning, they had the opportunity to hear more about the professional backgrounds and expertise of the CQC team and their commitment to building gambling harms into their own areas of work and wider projects.
The day was filled with invaluable conversation around prevention and intervention for gambling harms reduction, particularly in and around the workplace and isolated communities.
Quote from Ian, our Education and Intervention Programme Manager:
As part of Beacon Counselling Trust’s 10-Point Plan and Workplace Charter Programme the ongoing initiative to mobilise organisations in adopting gambling harms into their internal public health and wellbeing framework continue to gain momentum. BCT are extremely grateful for working relationships such as those with organisations such as the CQC for identifying and helping promote our programmes of work in this area with prevention of gambling harm being at the forefront of our efforts.
