Beacon Counselling Trust are thrilled to announce that HMP Altcourse have successfully completed the Workplace Charter to Reduce Gambling Related Harm making them the first prison in the UK to join the initiative.
Over the last two years Beacon Counselling Trust has worked closely with HMP Altcourse and Sodexo who manage the prison, supported by HM Prisons and Probation Services, facilitating accredited gambling harms training for staff, education workshops for the wider prison community and the development and implementation of gambling harms policy and pathways into support.
Ian Whiteside, BCT Programme Manager who attended the signing ceremony finalising HMP Altcourse signatory requirements said:
“We commend and thank the fantastic team at HMP Altcourse for their commitment and dedication in preventing, reducing and addressing gambling harms and we hope their hard work acts as a benchmark and exemplar to other prisons in the UK of what can be achieved. I would like to thank Dave Jones and Heidi Price, especially, for their excellent partnership and engagement in progressing HMP Altcourse towards this significant collaboration.”
