The latest signatory of Beacon Counselling Trust’s Workplace Charter to Reduce Gambling-Related Harms are Cumbrian based addiction service CADAS.

CADAS provide holistic support within local communities across Cumbria to anyone with dependency issues alongside focusing on prevention, working in schools and youth clubs to raise awareness of issues such as drugs and alcohol.

By signing the Workplace Charter CADAS become one of the first organisations in Cumbria to commit to the reducing gambling-related harms within the workplace. One of the main components of the charter is the development of a gambling harms policy to sit alongside drug and alcohol policies to provide a framework for support should a staff member be identified as experiencing gambling-related harms.

CADAS have recently started to address gambling-related harms and have employed a gambling harms co-ordinator to deliver BCT’s ‘Bet You Can Help’ programme and provide brief interventions for anyone accessing their service. BCT look forward to working alongside CADAS moving forward to reduce gambling harms in Cumbria.
